I’ve spent the past few days cutting out fabric for several different little outfits and sewing this one for my adorable 22-month-old granddaughter. The pattern is Kwik Sew 3775. The dress is made by a toddler size 3. The soft cotton fabric is by Debbie Mumm and is a wonderful shade of deep butterscotch yellow with bright red, blue and green polka dots. The companion print features popsicles in the same contrasting colors. So cute! I am half-finished with the matching diaper cover/”bloomers”. I hope it fits and I can’t wait to see her in it!

Time flies so quickly…she will soon be two years old.
I am so happy that I will be in Dallas for her birthday and to meet her baby sister who is due mid-August!

What a sweet pattern and beautiful fabrics-that dress is adorable! It’s a lot of fun sewing for those grand babies isn’t it? I’ve been making little sun suits for our two little grandsons, 6 months and 10 months, and having a ball!

Thanks, Carole – it really did turn out cute! I love all the fabrics and patterns I’m working on – just wish I were FASTER! Something about getting older? 😉 I was there for her first birthday last September and remember how HOT it was then! One of these days when I’m in Dallas, we will have to get together!

Very sweet dress. I love your choice of materials. I used to sew a lot when my girls were little but never make clothes anymore. Now it’s mainly alterations, curtains, things like that. I enjoy that too but maybe not as much as making dresses for little girls. Your granddaughter is going to look very cute.

That is a beautiful wee dress. I still remember, very clearly, the many clothes my Granny made for me and my sister. We always received a new Easter dress from her, and many other things during the years. That was in a time when my Granny and my mother sewed all their own clothes as well, and most of ours – but the ones Granny made for me were still very special, because I knew how much love she put into them.

I made clothing for myself and for my daughter for so many years–and shirts for my tall slender son. Remember the years of the Gunne Sax dresses with the yards of lace and ribbons?
Sewing for small children is purely fun–an outfit goes together so quickly.
Now I only make quilts and such, but still find the joy of creating with fabric.
